2009 Draft Order
« on: February 23, 2009, 08:44:51 PM »
The more things change the more they stay the same. Mike Kelly has an uphill battle to build his NI depth in Winnipeg. As of now divisonal rival Ti-Cats and Argos both have 4 picks and the Lions 3 before Winnipeg gets a selection at #19. The Bombers do make up for it somewhat with 5 total picks total including 3 in the final 2 rounds. The Riders with #14 get an earlier pick than the Bombers but the draft is almost a non-entity for them. The Riders pick at #14 & #22 then are done.

Argos with 3 picks in the first 10 !!! - unprecedented for them i believe.

Not sure i have much faith in them to do much with this with the wannabe bros. Rita & Mohns still in charge and a brand new all-american coaching staff who will have no clue or respect for (i doubt anyways) NI talent.  So - go Arrrrgoooooos;  maybe they can trade some top picks to the Bombers or Riders?  The Pussycats have 2 of the top 3 plus 4 of the top 17, so they could make some nice pick-ups, but I have little faith in Obie in this department - probably load up on O-linemen;  Wally has #s  5 & 6 and 3 of the top 13 and lots of holes to fill on a team that suffered some serious roster losses;  Wally will probably be thinking O-line prospects or special teams "projects" and not looking at NI competition for starting jobs, but who knows - ALWAYS lots of surprises or bizzarreness with the CFL draft.
