From April 14. Ooch! Marwan Hage retires. This is bad new for the REDBLACKS as he was one of the key Expansion Draft picks. This is maybe the 1st reasonably big mistake by the REDBLACKS. Watch for REDBLACKS to now possibily draft Pierre Lavertu from Laval who it is believed could play now in the CFL at Center. A mate of mine here in Ottawa I'll call him Coach C, who is a successful and popular coach here has sent me his thoughts on the draft. Also below from Sat Dec 14 is his picks with his predicted protected players and a brief description. It's great reading.
"Myk Aussie well I like the pics. A lot were guys I debated on taking in the mock drafts. Hopkins and Fraser Pottinger were guys I picked. Liked the 2 import Rs, 3 Canadian FBs, Delahunt and Lavoie can fill Offensive roles but Green was a LB his first few years in league and was moved to FB because he is special teams guy.
The S played for Campbell in GGY and can fill role very well. Verdone was a stud in CIS yet to play much in CFL. The DL was what surprised me more. Hopkins is a good addition, Capicciotti is good young Canadian. Marshall and Evans - admittedly I don't know much about them. Williams I was on the fence about putting in as he has good skills but shocking to me that Shologan was left unprotected. (If anything, he could be trade bait to Edm or SSK for another player and picks).
Glenn honestly concerned about him, good QB - has experience and is one of my favourites, just he needs to have a strong supporting cast around him to be good. He has proven that in WPG, and Ham. DeMarco I think is a great pick up. Walker is a stud, great speed.
The OL was kinda disappointing as I didn't think they would go all young guys. Hage is awesome a good friend. Didn't think and have doubts he will leave Hamilton. Lee played in NFL, Eppele has been very inconsistent in his time in Toronto. Like JM Deane.. lots of talent. Kraunick...don't know a lot about him. I worked with Albright and messaged him when pick was announced. He is super jacked to get here. Great kid." Coach C.
