Dear Fans:

Nearly two years have gone by since we made our first proposal to the Board of the Winnipeg Football Club. I knew this would take time but I never thought it would take THIS much time. That said, we are in this for the long haul and have been working very hard and collaboratively to make the dream a reality.

The good news is that all of the pieces are in motion and we are steadily progressing to a point where they ARE going to come together. For me, that day cannot come soon enough! Unfortunately, all the delays have pushed us to a 2011 opening.

In closing, I want to thank you sincerely for all of your emails and letters regarding the stadium project, and that means ALL of them, both positive and negative. It's overwhelming that so many of you care enough to speak up and our team really appreciates it.

Finally, I wish you all a great holiday season and a happy new year in which the Grey Cup returns to Winnipeg!

Based upon the last line of his news release it would appear that Mr. Asper has drawn a little too liberally from the Christmas bubbly a few days early...but I DO hope the 'peg at least gets a new stadium!  ;)

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all!

I am sure Asper is referring to when the Cup passes through there on its trip back to Saskatchewan from Montreal.
